The Giants could be forced to hand a prime-time home game over to the Jets.
The NFL is considering swapping the two Week 14 games at MetLife Stadium, moving Giants-Packers out of “Monday Night Football” on Dec. 11 and into the prior day’s 1 p.m. television window.
In that scenario, the Jets-Texans game is the only option that could be flexed into prime time because otherwise the Jets and Giants would have conflicting Sunday home games.
The Texans (6-4) are led by Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite and dark horse MVP candidate C.J. Stroud at quarterback.
The Jets just made a quarterback change to Tim Boyle, and it is unlikely Aaron Rodgers would be back from his torn Achilles by then (if at all).
“I’m not sure we’d do it,” NFL vice president of broadcasting Mike North said on the SI Media Podcast. “But the Texans have played their way into national television. We’re looking for an opportunity.”
The NFL has until Nov. 29 to make that decision, so a lot could depend on whether the Jets (4-6) remain in the playoff hunt by beating the Dolphins on Friday.

This is the first year that Monday and Thursday night games can be flexed under NFL rules.
Giants owner John Mara was the loudest opponent prior to the league vote approving expanded flex scheduling because he thought it was unfair to fans who make plans to attend games long in advance. Now Mara’s team could be the first team impacted.
“That decision is still to be made,” North said, citing how wins by the Giants (3-8) and Packers (4-6) in Week 11 decreased the likelihood compared to one week ago.
QB Daniel Jones underwent successful surgery to repair his torn ACL on Wednesday morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the Giants announced.
Head team physician and orthopedist Dr. Scott Rodeo performed the procedure.
Jones is targeting a return to the field between the start of training camp and Week 1 of next season.

WR Darius Slayton (neck), LB Bobby Okereke (rib/hip), DT Dexter Lawrence (hamstring), RT Evan Neal (ankle) and RB Saquon Barkley (rest) did not practice. Slayton’s injury originally was diagnosed as his “arm,” but Daboll did not rule out that he could play Sunday.
Okereke revealed he is playing through a hairline fracture to his rib, but, “I dislocated my pinky, and that hurt more than this.”
RB Eric Gray’s 21-day window to practice before he must be activated from injured reserve (ankle) or shut down for the season was opened.
CB Adoree’ Jackson has progressed to non-contact practices after missing the past two games while slowly working through the NFL’s five-step concussion protocol.
Gray, Jackson, OT Tyre Phillips (knee), WR Sterling Shepard (hip) and OT Andrew Thomas (knee) were limited.
The Giants will practice Thursday but be let out of the building earlier than normal for Thanksgiving. Daboll allowed captains to vote on whether they wanted the typical Tuesday off day or to practice Tuesday and get a fully free holiday.
K Cade York was waived after he was inactive the past three games. Randy Bullock, who has been elevated from the practice squad to kick in the past three games, needs to be added to the 53-man roster. York could join the practice squad if he clears waivers.
