To express disappointment in the results of the Hunter Biden probe is to admit you ever believed it was an actual and honest investigation.
Shame on you, sucker.
Santa Claus is more real than the integrity of the FBI and Justice Department under Joe Biden. Friend and family discounts have never been so obvious — and odious.
For the other side of the coin, see the FBI’s tracking of parents who dared to criticize progressive school boards, and agents who were willing to carry out an armed visit to the home of an?anti-abortion protester. Traditional Catholics also were singled out for undercover surveillance.
Third World decay
Then there’s the history-making takedown of Donald Trump, which gives rise to the most poignant phrase of the day — a two-tiered system of justice.
That’s another way of saying there is no justice system.
For the word “justice” implies fairness and impartiality for all comers before the law.
Those requirements are absent when the guilty son of the sitting president gets the equivalent of jaywalking citations for a life lived notoriously outside the law and the leader of the opposition party gets buried in a felony landslide.
You don’t have to be a cynic to realize the larger consequences. This is what happens in Third World countries, and now it’s happening in America.
It proves the 2016 spying on the Trump campaign wasn’t a one-off.
Despite its claims to the contrary, the FBI remains wedded to the Democratic Party, and Director Christopher Wray is part of the problem, not the solution.?
Count his performance in this case and others as another nail in the coffin of a nation that is breaking faith with many of its most devoted citizens and appears intent on fomenting even deeper disunity.
Take away people’s trust in law enforcement and other crucial government institutions and you’ve taken away their reason to believe in and fight for their country.
That’s not to argue that Trump is innocent in the classified documents case.
It is to argue that Hunter Biden is getting favored treatment despite making many millions of dollars in a worldwide influence-peddling scheme, as the known facts make clear and as whistleblowers swear.?
His abandoned laptop doesn’t lie, and besides, no honest investigation of anyone takes five years and then comes to a halt with charges that amount to low-hanging fruit.?
If this is all there is to Biden’s scams and he was willing to plead guilty to these charges, the case could have been settled long ago.
Garland takes off
The only mystery is that Attorney General Merrick Garland waited so long into Joe Biden’s term to give his boss’s son an easy exit.
And it’s no coincidence Garland was on a European junket when the case wrapped up.
He’s a partisan, but not a stupid one.
He doesn’t want his fingerprints on this one and wasn’t about to embarrass himself by giving a civics class lecture about Lady Justice being blind in a case where the whole world knows the fix was in.
The White House was silent, too, except for the briefest statement from the Bidens saying, “The president and first lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life.”?
No doubt they love him, but there is zero evidence the son has ever earned a nickel without his father’s help or selling his name to the highest bidder.
His business model gives new meaning to “Presidents’ Day Sale.”
Even the Delaware prosecutor who folded like a cheap suit spoke only through court filings, as if he were in the Witness Protection Program.
His name is David Weiss, and we’re supposed to have trusted him to do an honest job because he was nominated and confirmed during Trump’s tenure.
That assumption speaks to the way Washington views the law, as if outcomes are dependent on the party of the president who nominated the prosecutor.
Although Weiss says in his filing that “The investigation is ongoing,” that’s more likely a fig leaf so he and the FBI can duck congressional scrutiny by saying they can’t comment on an ongoing case.?
Which also means they’ll be leaking to friendly outlets about how the case was handled in by-the-books fashion and how the proof needed to bring more serious charges just wasn’t there, blah blah blah.
Naturally, all the sources will be anonymous and their veracity and knowledge will be hailed by Democrats’ media handmaidens.
Prosecutorial neglect
Of course, the ultimate scam is that Weiss was never interested in sticking to the No. 1 lesson of Watergate: Follow the money.
If he had, he would have learned instantly that the foreign paymasters who showered Hunter and Joe’s brother Jim Biden with cash and gifts wanted something in return.?
And there was only one Biden who could give them what they wanted.
That Weiss limited the financial part of the investigation into Hunter’s dodging of taxes on those payments shows he didn’t have the stomach to take the next logical step of seeing if the president played a role.
It can’t possibly be true that Weiss didn’t have enough information to learn who was sharing in the corrupt millions and why Hunter, a junkie bulls–t artist, was worth so much money to foreigners but apparently had no significant American clients.
And as Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky asked: What was Hunter selling, what was his product? It’s astonishing that Weiss and the FBI apparently never appeared to care about the answers.
Consider that under Comer’s leadership, the House Oversight panel, in less than six months with subpoena power, has shown how nine Biden family members shared in a single payoff from China.
Comer and others also forced the FBI to concede that a trusted informant claimed as far back as 2017 that Joe and Hunter each got a $5 million bribe from the owner of Burisma, the corrupt Ukrainian energy company on whose board Hunter served for more than five years.?
The ‘big guy’s cut
And, again thanks only to the House GOP, we know that same informant restated the claim at least two more times, most recently in 2020.
Because of former Hunter partner Tony Bobulinski, we’ve also known since 2020 that Joe Biden was identified as the “big guy” who was slated to get a secret 10% cut in the China deal, including for work done in 2015 and 2016, when he was vice president.
These are just some of the highlights of what is now public knowledge, yet there is zero indication that Weiss and the FBI have used any of these facts and allegations in five years. It’s as if they are running from the truth rather than running after it.
Even to take the allegations seriously and investigate them would lay bare the president’s repeated lies that he never discussed his son’s business with him.
Honest probers would then have to ask why Joe would be so careless as to make such a ridiculous claim when the laptop contains numerous emails and pictures of him with Hunter’s partners and paymasters.
The lie made more sense when he first told it in 2020, as Biden and those 51 lying former spies were denouncing the laptop as likely Russian disinformation.
That was in the final weeks of the campaign and the lie achieved its purpose of misleading the public largely because the FBI worked with Big Tech to block The Post’s original laptop stories.
But that was nearly three years ago and at this point, even the Bidens don’t claim the laptop isn’t real. So why does Joe still stand by his lie?
Did prez profit?
My view is that the president’s continuing claim of ignorance is a linchpin in the whole influence-peddling scheme. If Joe admitted he knew what Hunter and Jim were up to, the focus would immediately turn to him.?
Why didn’t he stop it? And why did he meet so often with the venture’s partners, including Bobulinski, and the foreign funders?
Each question in turn raises another, until we get to the ultimate ones: Did Joe share in the profits? Did he sell out America when he was vice president?
If the answer is yes to either of those questions, as the FBI informant alleges and as Hunter suggests on the laptop, then Joe is a compromised president whose loyalty to our nation cannot be trusted.
Seen in that light, his recent appeasement of China makes more sense.
As I have argued, President Xi Jinping knows what role Joe played in the deals that brought the Biden family millions of Communist dollars, so it might not be just conventional weakness of an 80-year-old president who brushes off a China spy balloon over America’s nuclear facilities as no big deal.?
Nor is it standard fare for a president to concede that China has eclipsed America as the world’s leading superpower, as Biden and his secretary of state have effectively done this week.
Indeed, what if, as Bobulinski suspects, those large Chinese payoffs were part of a military intelligence operation that targeted the Bidens for just this sort of moment?
In that case, America is in a lot more trouble than we know. But whatever the truth is, Americans deserve to know it.
Because the Justice Department has taken a dive, the mission falls to congressional Republicans and honest patriots everywhere.
