A Texas woman vanished while searching for her missing brother who disappeared days earlier, officials said.
Dinora Escobar, 61, has not been heard from since she went to her 65-year-old brother Rogelio Escobar’s home Tuesday in Galveston to look for him, according to news station KPRC.
Authorities said Rogelio Escobar was last seen Aug. 26 on his daily walk to a local convenience store.
The missing woman’s van was discovered Thursday burned nearly beyond recognition on a nearby beach, news station KTRK reported.
The fire destroyed most of the van — including its vehicle identification number — but investigators were able to link the car to the missing woman via a hole near the taillight.
Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, an organization dedicated to searching for missing persons, said the case has “all the markings of foul play.”
“I’ve been on many, many, many searches over the years … but this case, this is more than just a normal missing person case,” Miller told the Houston Chronicle.
