Celebrity chefs are setting up the ultimate charity picnic
Big-name chefs including Angie Mar of The Beatrice Inn, whose menu attracts a celebrity and finance crowd, will be putting on the ultimate New York picnic on June 20 to benefit (RED) in its continuing battle against AIDS.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Bank of America are among those behind the first-ever Eat (RED) Saves Lives night of food and film in Bryant Park, and will offering dollar-matching on every ticket sold.
Mar will join other renowned chefs including Mario Batali, Ina Garten, Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Danny Bowien to cook up gourmet treats for guests while a film plays.
Eat (RED) Saves Lives, led by Batali, is in its fourth annual month-long campaign.
To date, (RED) has raised more than $465 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
